Here at Malthouse Nursery School we aim for our children to have fun at nursery, to be happy and laugh lots. We achieve this by ensuring our children play in a secure and welcoming environment enabling them to build confidence and form good friendships.

As parents ourselves, we understand the importance of knowing that our children are happy and safe and therefore, we strive to provide the best we possibly can for our Malthouse children. Our promise to you is that we treat your children in the same way we would wish our own children to be cared for; they are given a hug when they need it and are listened to when they have something to say, all within a relaxed home-from-home environment.

We are a 24-place nursery and strictly adhere to the staff:child ratio set out by Ofsted. We do however strive to achieve a higher ratio of staff to children then stipulated wherever possible. During any one session, we will have up to 4 children aged 2-3 years with the remaining children being over the age of 3.

We recognise that our children learn at an individual pace and that every one of our children is special and unique. We believe children should learn through open play and having fun. We also believe that by fostering independence, we trust and encourage our children to succeed. Therefore, our children relish the opportunities to explore and try new activities for themselves. In doing this they are provided with opportunities to think for themselves and make their own decisions and with staff always on hand to encourage, support and listen to the child’s needs we are able to question and offer alternative suggestions and choices whilst promoting independent thinking and learning.

Our children benefit from individual time with staff as well as enjoying time within small groups. We observe and monitor the progress of each child recording their time with us in their own photo album. Our photo albums are our way of sharing with you your child’s experiences and achievements.

At Malthouse Nursery School, we acknowledge parents or family members as the primary carers of your children, and we value your input and guidance. We want parents to feel as valued at the Malthouse Nursery School as your children and we aim to welcome and embrace the family unit as a whole. We therefore encourage feedback from our children’s parents, listening to your needs and the needs or your child. To that end, we gladly welcome and encourage parents to join us within our nursery.

Come on in and join the fun!
