Welcome

A very warm Welcome to Malthouse Nursery School.

We understand that choosing the right preschool for your child is an important decision. We invite you to come and visit us at Malthouse Nursery School, meet the staff and feel free to ask any questions that will help you make the right decision for you and your family.

Malthouse Nursery School is situated in the beautiful rural surroundings of Charlton Park Private Estate and our children have acres of fields and woodland to discover and enjoy. Charlton Park has been home to the nursery school since its opening in 1988. It is a working farm and home to a variety of animals (and tractors!) which enables us to explore a wonderful and varied outdoor environment.

We are a small well-established traditional nursery school with traditional values and pride ourselves on providing a warm, friendly and nurturing environment for our children and their families. We currently take children aged 2-5 years and accommodate up to 24 children in each session which includes pre-school education.

We are a private, independent nursery school, are members of the National Day Nursery Association and are supported by the Wiltshire Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership. Our nursery school is registered and approved by OFSTED.

Your child’s experience in early years education should be a positive and exciting one. At Malthouse Nursery School, we strive to make every day a happy day for both your child and your family.

We believe that the outdoors is
the best place for children to
learn and develop

Staff provide a wide
range of interesting and
challenging activities
that supports children’s
learning well across all
areas. – Ofsted 2017

Learning through play

We aim to spend at least 50% of every day enjoying outdoor activities whatever the great British weather has in store for us. There  is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing. (High winds and thunder & lightening are the only exceptions to this) Whilst indoors, our children are given the opportunity to take part in a wide range of activities such as painting, construction, small world, imaginary play, dressing-up, role play, sand and water play along with a vast selection of table-top toys and activities. Our children also have use of ipad’s, programmable toys and have access to their own office area to practice their mark-making. Each of our children also has their own book bag and use our book corner as a lending library.

Children behave very
well. They are sensitively
supported to learn how
to manage their own
feelings.

Malthouse and our Parents

We attach great importance to our partnership with our parents and carers. We recognise that you as parents know your child best. We believe that any information you share with us will benefit your
child in building a full picture and enabling us to provide continuity and a holistic approach to their care. You are welcome to discuss your child’s progress with us at any time, we are always keen to share experiences and hear about your child’s achievements and mischievous stories.

All our staff are dedicated to making
your child’s time with us a happy
& joyful experience. Our team of 6
staff are qualified and experienced in
working with children in their early
years and many of us have enjoyed
working together at the Malthouse
for a number of years resulting in
very little staff turnover and great
continuity of care for your child.

Praise and recognition

We want your children to look forward to coming to nursery and to have a fun and enjoyable time with us. Our philosophy is that children flourish and progress in an atmosphere where their achievements are recognised and praised. We believe that children should have clearly
defined boundaries of behaviour for their safety and that of others.
Our children are taught to respect each other, to be kind & caring and to treat each other with courtesy. We do not use any physical punishments or use practices that humiliate or frighten our children. We treat and care for your children in the same way we would want our own children to be treated and cared for.

Additional Needs

We welcome children with additional needs and we undertake consultation with parents closely as to how these needs can best be met.
